Clinical Consultation for Therapists Using Internal Family Systems

Just because IFS is simple doesn’t mean it’s always easy.

Perhaps you're noticing how challenging it can be to be Self-led while helping clients differentiate their parts from their core Self. Or maybe you're experiencing resistance in clients — or from parts of them — that makes the process feel stuck or unclear. There can be quite a bit of subtle nuance when working within an IFS model: knowing how to pace the work, how to engage with silent or elusive protective parts, and how to step back from the impulse to direct or fix, among other challenges. In the face of these complexities, you might find yourself feeling confused or overwhelmed, with parts that want to figure it out, shut down, withdraw, or even panic under the pressure.

I find the consultation process both energizing and inspiring, a space where creativity and curiosity meet. I offer consultation for therapists who are incorporating Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy into their clinical work and are seeking a supportive, thoughtful space to explore their cases.

My practice is dedicated to supporting adult clients who are working through the enduring impact of early childhood experiences, often presenting as challenges with relationships, anxiety, and/or depression. In consultation, it is my highest priority to bring warmth, curiosity, and compassion—creating space for honest reflection and thoughtful exploration. Together, we can unpack clinical challenges, explore creative ways to deepen your IFS work, and deepen in curiosity towards both your clients’ systems and your own. Whether you're looking for guidance with stuck points or simply a space to reflect, my goal is to support you in growing your confidence and clarity in the therapy space and beyond.

Additional IFS training and experience

In addition to doing my own work, I’ve completed over 75 additional hours of advanced IFS training on topics including trauma, addiction, autistic systems, legacy burdens, working somatically with a system, and more. These trainings were led by respected IFS trainers such as Dick Schwartz, founder of the IFS model, as well as Frank Anderson, Alexia Rothman, Stephanie Mitchell, Bruce Hersey, and Sarah Bergenfield. In addition to formal training, I’ve received consultation with IFS Lead Trainer Rina Dubin, Certified IFS therapist Stephanie Mitchell, and Certified IFS therapist Laura Schmidt. I have been an active member of an IFS consultation group that has met monthly for the past several years. My somatic work has also been informed by principles of Sensorimotor psychotherapy, Somatic IFS, and Polyvagal Theory.
